how to delete gmail account

Many times we create the gmail account but dont use it for many days. Or due to some reason if you want to delete your gmail account then follow the steps given below

1> Sign in to your gmail account http://www.gmail.com/

2> once you are successfully logged in the click on settings option provided at top - right corner

3> New web page will open as shown in following image then select the Account and import tab as shown in following image.

4> then select the option Google Account settings present at bottom in above image.
5> The new page will open as shown in following image then click on the edit button its position is shown by arrow

6> after that two options will appear on the screen one is
i] Remove Gmail permanently and other is
ii] Close account and delete all services and info associated with it

choose first option to delete only gmail account your other services will remain active associated with this google account. and Choose second option to delete the gmail as well as other all account such as orkut, blogger ,feedburner etc. If you select second option then all serivces associated with your account will be deleted. and you will no longer will be able to access your account.
