how to protect your gmail account

Many times you log in to your gmail or google account from internet cafe, office, friends pc, or from some other pc. By mistake if you password is stored on that pc then anybody can log in to you account. here are few steps to protect your gmail account from unauthorized access.

1> Log in to your gmail account http://www.gmail.com/
2> see at the bottom of page there is link details its position is shown in the following picture by arrow. click on this link





3> A new window as shown in in following image will appear




here is you can find out who logged to you account from which ip address. at what time ...
All these details are included in this table. In first column how the user logged in to your gmail is shown that means with help of browser or mobile account or from pop3 email client accout.
Second column shows the IP address of the computer, laptop or any other PC machine. Ip address is unique for every devices. your current ip address is shown below the table in above image.

4> and last column is most important that show who and when logged in to your gmail account.
including the date and time hence you can easily come to know that whether you yourself logged in to your own gmail account or somebody else logged in to your account from some other ip address.
5> What to do if you find out that somebody else had logged in to your account from some other machine ?
solution -> Just click on the button sign out all other sessions. The position of the button is shown by arrow. After clicking on this button , if your gmail or google account is open to some other location then it will be logged out automatically. After this immediately change your password. This action will prevent someone else from logging in to your gmail account.

6> So everytime you login to your gmail account just verify that your account was/ is not open anywhere else by clicking on the link details given in above image. If it is open the simply click on the button sign out all other sessions. This will log out all login session except yours.
